3 Premier League teams confirm Champions League qualification after Arsenal lose to Newcastle

Three English Premier League giants Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea have qualifed for Champions League after Arsenal were defeated 2-0 by Newcastle United on Monday night, Newspremises has gathered.

League leaders, Manchester City and Liverpool have since book their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League having occupied the first and second spot concurrently for most of the season.

Chelsea’s spot in next season’s elite European competition was under threat after a defeat to Everton and a draw with Wolves at the start of May.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have occupied third spot for most of the season.

A Ben White own goal and Bruno Guimaeres finish saw the Magpies stun Mikel Arteta’s men at St James’ Park.

City and Liverpool had broken away from the rest of the chasing pack for most of the season.

But the result means Chelsea will finish in third spot ahead of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

Spurs will take the final Champions League spot if they win at relegated Norwich City this Sunday.
