Asisat Oshoala bids farewell to Barcelona, set for USA move

Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala is reportedly set to depart FC Barcelona Femini after an illustrious five-year season with the Spanish club, Newspremises reports.

The 29-year-old Nigerian is eyeing a move to the United States of America, where the United States National Women’s Soccer League team, Bay FC, has reportedly secured her talents.

This season, Oshoala faced challenges securing a spot in Barcelona’s starting lineup, with only four starts in 14 appearances for the reigning La Liga champions.

According to Soccernet, Barcelona has accepted a €150,000 fee for Oshoala’s transfer to Bay FC.

Her contract with the Catalan club was set to be concluded at the end of this current season. An official announcement is expected later this week, unveiling Oshoala’s move to Bay FC.

The contract terms allegedly extend through 2026, with an option for 2027.

Bay FC, making its NWSL debut in 2024, will call PayPal Park in San Jose, California, home. Their inaugural NWSL campaign commences on March 17, where they will face Angel City.
