Barcelona Femeni players bid Asisat Oshoala farewell in emotional video as she moves to Bay FC

Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala has left Spanish giants, Barcelona Femini for the American Women’s League expansion side Bay FC, Newspremises has gathered.

Oshoala, who is the current African Women’ Footballer of the Year will join Bay FC on a two-year contract with an option of one year to extension.

Having enjoyed a successful five-year stint with Barcelona Femeni, Oshoala decided to leave Europe for the second time as she moved to North America.

In an emotional video shared on social media, the prolific striker met her Barcelona teammates for the final time to say her goodbyes. The players hugged and wished her well following her departure.

Oshoala penned a heartfelt message to the Blaugrana describing Barcelona as her home.

“To my beloved Barcelona, as I bid farewell to this incredible team and the city that has been my home for the past 5 years, I am filled with mixed emotions. It has been an absolute honour and privilege to wear the @fcbfemeni jersey and represent this prestigious club,” she wrote on Instagram.

Oshoala scored 107 goals in 149 appearances for Barcelona, including a record-setting season in 2022, when she was the joint-top scorer in the league with 19 goals. The Nigerian forward spent five incredible seasons with the Spanish outfit.

” Bay FC, the Bay Area’s new women’s professional soccer franchise in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), have acquired the rights to Nigerian international Asisat Oshoala through a transfer with FC Barcelona Femení of Liga F in Spain in exchange for a transfer fee, the club announced today,” wrote BAY FC in announcing her arrival on their official website.
