Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has hit out at Manchester United over their decision to release Cristiano Ronaldo on a free transfer.
Taking a cue from Manuel Neuer, the German says his club would never do the same.
In full preparation for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Portugal in November, Cristiano Ronaldo saw his contract with the Red Devils terminated.
The decision follows an interview the five-time Ballon d’Or winner gave to Piers Morgan, accusing the club and its managers of betraying him and trying to force him out.
He criticized coach Erik ten Hag, owners The Glazers and club legends Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville.
The Portuguese joins Al Nassr for free after the World Cup.
Bayern Munich are also currently facing a similar situation as Neuer has publicly criticized the Bavarian club in the media.
Neuer is currently in a war of words with Bayern management over the release of goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic, after he allegedly leaked information from the coaching staff to the press.
The idea of a free transfer of Neuer, whose contract expires in 2024, is increasingly widespread.
But Hainer brushed off the reports while lashing out at the Manchester United squad for their handling of the Ronaldo situation.
“No, not at all ,” Hainer told BR24 Sport, when asked if Bayern would release Neuer for free. “That’s why we are FC Bayern Munich. At FC Bayern Munich, we always clarify such things internally. These are the things that make FC Bayern strong and special ,” said the Bavarian president.
Neuer will be out for the remainder of the season after breaking his leg during a post-World Cup skiing holiday.
