Carabao Cup: How Manchester United could line up vs Nottingham Forest ahead of semi-final clash

No fewer than three key Manchester United’s players will be missing when they face Nottingham Forest in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final game, Newspremises has gathered.

The two Premier League teams are scheduled to face off on Wednesday night, January 25, with a place in the final of the tournament at stake.

United’s hope of winning the Premier League title were dealt a serious blow, following their painful 3-2 loss to rival Arsenal.

The attention of Erik ten Hag and his team will now turn to their upcoming matchup against Nottingham at City Ground.

The Dutchman’s biggest opportunity to win a trophy at Man United since his arrived in the summer is the Carabao Cup.

They are still two steps away from winning that championship, and one of the clubs they would have to beat to have a shot is The Garibaldi.

Manchester United without three players

Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot, and Jadon Sancho, three essential players for United, will not travel to City Ground.

Sancho has not yet made an appearance for the Red Devils since the World Cup, while Martial and Dalot were both missing from the team that traveled to the Emirates Stadium last weekend.

Ten Hag did not provide much details about the timeline for the trio’s potential comeback in his remarks prior to the Nottingham meeting.

“The players who were not available for the Arsenal game – Dalot, Martial, Sancho are also not available for tomorrow,” Ten Hag told

United will be boosted by the availability of Casemiro, who missed the Arsenal clash due to suspension.

Predicted Man United XI vs Arsenal

The clash on Wednesday could see several Man United youngsters earn some minutes under their belts, with several first-team players expected to be rested.

Tom Heaton is projected to replace David de Gea between the sticks, with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof potentially replacing Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez at the heart of defence.

Tyrell Malacia could slot in for Luke Shaw in the left-back, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka continuing on the right in the absence of Dalot.

In midfield, Casemiro could be called up alongside Christian Eriksen, with Fred and Scott McTominay settling for a place on the bench.

Bruno Fernandes is expected to continue in the No.10 role, with Marcus Rashford and Antony joining him in attack.

January arrival Wout Weghorst is in line to lead the line as he eyes to bag his first goal for Man United.
