Champion of Champions: Messi beats Mbappe to another prestigious award

Paris Saint-Germain superstar, Lionel Messi has won another distinguish award for the very first time in his illustrious career following his 2022 World Cup success with Argentina, Newspremises reports.

Messi guide Argentina to defeated France in the World Cup final through penalties, netting two goals in regular time while fellow PSG teammate, Kylian Mbappe netted a hat-trick for the losing team.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner contributed with seven goals and three assists, starring in the tournament as he scooped the Golden Boy award.


And France publication L’Equipe has honoured the Argentine captain with another award after his heroics in Qatar.

According to SportBible, the 35-year-old Argentine has swooped the Champions of Champion award.

He beat competition from PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe, Max Verstappen and Stephen Curry.

Messi generated a stunning 808 points to win the award, while his club colleague Mbappe finished runner-up with 381 points.

Rafael Nadal was third after scoring 285 points. and Basketball star Steph Curry all made it into the top ten.
