Chelsea could make ‘huge statement’ for ace forwarder at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea signing Harry Kane would be a “real signal of intent” from Thomas Tuchel’s side, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The £81m-rated striker has entered the final two years of his contract at Tottenham, and he has been linked with a shock move to Stamford Bridge.

What’s the latest news involving Kane?

According to German journalist Christian Falk, the Blues are hoping to continue their summer spending spree with the addition of Kane, who’s also attracting interest from Bayern Munich.

Chelsea have already spent more than £80m on bringing in Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly, but the 2021 Club World Cup winners are still hoping to sign a striker following Romelu Lukaku’s loan move to Inter Milan, while Armando Broja could also leave before September’s deadline.

Kane was the subject of intense speculation from Manchester City 12 months ago, but he shook off that transfer saga to score 17 Premier League goals last season, which took his overall tally to 183 in the competition.

Could Kane join Chelsea?

Kane has previously expressed his desire to challenge for major trophies, which could happen at Chelsea considering they’ve racked up eight major honors since Tottenham last got their hands on silverware in 2008.

But Spurs are progressing well under Conte, which means it’s extremely unlikely that Daniel Levy will want to sell the England captain, let alone to one of the club’s main rivals in terms of league position and location.

Furthermore, Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham is expected to offer Kane a new contract, with the striker ‘open to talks’, which virtually rules him out leaving north London any time soon, let alone signing for Chelsea.

What did O’Rourke say about Kane?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “If they were able to sign Harry Kane from one of their rivals, what a statement that would send out that Chelsea does mean business to become contenders again for the Premier League.

“If they can land Harry Kane, who’s one of the best goalscorers in Premier League history and the England captain, it would send out a real signal of intent.”
