Chelsea set up an all-English Champions League final against Manchester City after a superb 3-1 aggregate win over Real Madrid in the semi-final
.Simple finishes from the much-maligned Timo Werner and the excellent Mason Mount gave the Blues a comfortable 2-0 win on Wednesday evening and sent Thomas Tuchel’s team through to their third Champions League final.
Tuchel will be leading a team into the final for the second year running following his run in the competition last year with Paris Saint-Germain, but this time around he will be hoping to go one better and lift the trophy in Istanbul
The German has only been in the Chelsea hot seat since January but has turned the fortunes of the Blues around and led them to a run of 16 wins in 24 matches and just two defeats in that time, including an astounding 18 clean sheets along the way.
However, some Chelsea fans have taken to social media to thank Tuchel’s predecessor Frank Lampard for the foundations he laid at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard was named Blues manager during a difficult time for the club due to a transfer ban and the former manager used this as an opportunity to blood a number of youngsters, who have gone onto play key roles in Tuchel’s tenure.
