Chelsea owner Todd Boehly involved exchanged words with fans after Brighton’s loss

Chelsea supporters were utterly disappointed by by their team’s performance in the 2-1 home loss to Brighton, and they made it clear towards co-owner and chairman Todd Boehly.

It was the third straight loss for caretaker manager Frank Lampard, who replaced the sacked Graham Potter until the end of the season while the search for a new manager continues.

Blues started on the front foot and took the lead through Conor Gallagher after the English midfielder received a short pass from January signing Mykhailo Mudryk, who was bright in the 90 minutes today.

Usual nemesis Danny Welbeck equalised for the Seagulls before halftime. Brighton took the lead in the second half via a screamer from Ecuadorian youngster Julio Enciso.

Fans confront Todd Boehly

According to Sky Sports, the American billionaire led a consortium backed by Clearlake Capital to acquire the club for £4.25bn last year, and fans have been left impressed by their stewardship.

As spotted by Twitter user @CFCPys, some fans who sat directly above the directors’ box at Stamford Bridge exchanged words with the LA Dodgers owner in what looked like an unfriendly affair.

According to ESPN, the club spent £323m on signings in January but are closer to the relegation spot than they are to the top four, despite having had four managers, both permanent and caretaker, this season.

The decision to sack Thomas Tuchel for Graham Potter, the delay in sacking Potter and hiring Lampard as caretaker when former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique was literally begging for the job accumulated anger in the fans.
