Chelsea have reached an agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion coach, Graham Porter as the club new coach after the shocking sacking of Thomas Tuchel, Newspremises reports.
Chelsea new owner, Todd Boehly decided to fire Tuchel in the early hours of Wednesday, September 7, after the really poor game with Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night.
Todd Boehly had four candidates in the list, and one of the most difficult, of course was former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane he was never close to be the club new manager, but he was one of the candidates on the list.
However, the two concrete names were; former Paris Saint-Germain boss, Maurio Pochentino and Brighton manager Graham Porter.
Pochettino was available and opened to get the job, so he wanted Chelsea, he was ready to say yes to the project at Stamford Bridge.
Pochettino had some discussions with some agents and intermediaries for the job. It was a possibility for him to become new Chelsea coach, but Todd Boehly has priority, he wanted Graham Porter.
Therefore, Boehly decided to opened talks with Brighton and he got the green light from the club. Then he proceeded to have direct contact with Porter for the job and the projects at the club.
Porter is now opened to projects at Chelsea and wanted to take charge on the transfer activity of the club in January.
Everything is now intact, Porter wins the race and he is set to be named as Chelsea new coach.
Potter started his professional managerial career in January 2011 with Swedish club Östersund. He won three promotions and the Svenska Cupen with Östersund, leading them to the 2017–18 UEFA Europa League knockout stage.
