Chelsea vs Man Utd: Fans upset as Andre Onana failed to deny Gallagher’s strike (Video)

Football enthusiasts have flooded social media platforms with their reactions following Andre Onana’s inability to prevent Conor Gallagher from scoring the opening goal for Chelsea against Manchester United.

In a swift turn of events, Chelsea took the lead within four minutes, courtesy of a shot that eluded the Cameroonian goalkeeper’s grasp. Gallagher, left unchecked in a critical area, capitalized on a relatively weak attempt that Onana couldn’t handle, resulting in the ball finding the back of the net with his right foot.

Onana’s late dive was futile, as the ball had already crossed the goal line before his intervention, leaving supporters irate at the missed opportunity to stop the goal.

Numerous fans vented their frustrations on various platforms, criticizing the goalkeeper who recently transferred to Manchester United from Inter Milan. The club had announced his signing last summer, securing his services until June 2028, with the possibility of extending for another year.

After conceding to Gallagher’s strike, many argue that the 28-year-old Onana should have performed better in that situation.

One said:

“I can think of 20 goalkeepers in the MLS that could’ve stopped Gallagher’s shot.”

Another added:

“Conor Gallagher makes some excellent runs into the box and shouldn’t have been unmarked, but Andre Onana should save that.”

A fan wrote:

“Manchester United need to axe Onana before he leads them to relegation. What’s that gift to Chelsea and Connor Gallagher.”

A troll wrote:

Onana don suffer from Chelsea hand today. Gallagher before, now Cold Palmer. Who go save Manchester United now.
