Chelsea FC clinched a place in the Uefa Champions League semi-finals with a 2-1 victory over FC Porto on Aggregate last night.
The Blues won the first leg by a score of 2-0, giving them a 2-0 lead heading into the second leg tonight. In comparison to their opponent, who was desperate for a comeback, the Blues had fewer opportunities.
So, even though Mehdi Taremi scored a beautiful goal in stoppage time, it wasn’t enough to prevent Chelsea from progressing.
Uefa, on the other hand, has named ‘Christian Pulisic’ as the match’s man of the match after the American put in a professional performance last night.
Pulisic was fouled 11 times against Porto tonight, according to statistics, which is the most fouls a player has received in a single UCL match, as he proved to be a difficult opponent for Porto’s defenders.
According to a UEFA Technical Observer on Pulisic, “Throughout the pitch, this was a very dynamic performance. He was a constant threat to Porto and possessed a strong defensive mindset.”
