Chiwetalu Agu Released By Nigerian Army

Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has been released a day after he was arrested Newspremises has learned.

Agu was said to have been arrested on Thursday, October 7, 2021, by the Nigerian troops at Upper Iweka, Onitsha, Anambra state for putting on Biafra clothing.

According to reports, Agu was taken to 82 Division Enugu, where video emerged of him being questioned while sitting on the floor.

However, a number of Nigerians have called for his release including his Nollywood colleagues.

Meanwhile, Newspremises had previously reported that, the Nigerian army claim that Agu was arrested while inciting members of the public and soliciting for support for the proscribed Indegenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The Army added that, the actor was picked up for questioning while inciting members of the public to join the proscribed group.

Chiwetalu Agu on Friday, countered claim of campaigning for proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Agu has now been released according to his colleagues.
