The spate of insecurity in Nigeria is becoming worrisome, unknown gunmen reportedly shot dead a commissioner in the Kogi State Pension Board, Hon. Adebayo Solomon (Akeweje), Newspremises reports.
He was said to have been shot dead on Saturday evening, May 1, along Yagba – Ilorin Road in Kogi state, while returning to kogi from Ilorin, kwara state capital.
Newspremises gathered that the commissioner was abducted along side other persons were kidnapped by the same attackers.
Solomon’s car was reportedly shot severally, his driver who the bullets also hit manage to drive the car to Egbe town, before he eventually collapsed.
It was learnt that the remains of the commissioner had been deposited at the ECWA Hospital mortuary in Egbe.
According to the PUNCH, the whereabouts of the chairman of Yagba West local government area, Pius Kolawole, is yet to be known.
Kolawole was reportedly with Solomon when the incident happened.
Ayuba Ede, Kogi State commissioner of police, who confirmed the incident said that, “the incident took place at Eruku general area of Kwara state”.
According to him, an investigation is in progress.
