Enner Valencia recorded the first goal of the 2022 FIFA World Cup

The first match of the 2022 Qatar World Cup saw some dramatic scenes. In the 5th minute of the ongoing Qatar – Ecuador match at Al Bayt Stadium, Ecuador captain Enner Valencia hit the Qatar net. The Ecuador players expressed their celebration to score a goal at the beginning of the game against the hosts.

A huge error on the part of Qatari goalkeeper Al Sheeb resulted in the goal. It was a dangerous chance when Al Sheeb failed to punch a simple cross into the box. Torres’ overhead cross was headed into the net by Ecuador striker Enner Valencia. Then Ecuador fans performed celebratory performances.

However, the subsequent VAR check revealed that the Ecuador striker was caught offside. This left Ecuador players and fans disappointed. But, 10 minutes later, joy came again for Ecuador. Qatar goalkeeper Saad Al Sheeb fouled Enner Valencia who was playing forward after taking a through pass from Mendez. Qatar paid a heavy price for this foul. Al Sheeb was given a yellow card and Ecuador were awarded a penalty. At the penalty spot, Ecuador captain Enner Valencia tactically beat goalkeeper Al Sheeb and converted it into a goal.
