Excitement in Victor Osimhen’s childhood community as napoli prepare to lift Serie A title

The Olusosun neighborhood is agog as residents get ready to celebrate their “home boy,” Victor Osimhen, as Napoli prepares to win the Serie A championship.

For the first time in more than three decades, Napoli is expected to win Serie A, while Osimhen is anticipated to win the Scudetto at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

A win for the Partenopei against Salernitana on Sunday could confirm their title status as they are currently ahead of second position Lazio with 17 points.

Osimhen earlier took to his Instagram page to pen a short message to Napoli fans, telling them it’s their turn to celebrate as Italian champions. He wrote:

“Dear Neapolitans, you Have Waited Long Enough. Now. It’s Your Turn.”
Nicknamed ‘Ijaya Olusosun’, Osimhen grew up in the Ojota community of Lagos, and the neighbourhood is already in a celebration mood. Fatai Bello, popularly known as Baba Musiliu, said:

“We love him so much in this area. This is because he has been amazing to the community. We are lucky he grew up in this community. He is so humble to both the elderly ones and the younger.

When Sports Brief visited the community, banners, flags and murals of the player were seen in several spots.

It was also gathered that over 200 face masks have also been purchased, as many are prepared to ‘look like’ the Napoli striker.

“For Italy and for the world, Napoli’s stunning championship lead and likely victory might have come as a shock. For Napoli fans, it is a chance to prove what they’ve known all along,” The Nation wrote.
