It has emerged that Paris Saint-Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe did not play any role in former manager, Maurio Pochentino sacking, Newspremises understands.
Unverified reports had suggested that Mbappe pushed for Pochettino’s exit by virtue of his increased powers at the club.
Mbappe was given a bumper contract at the start of the summer, the biggest in football’s history.
Apart from a huge salary, the Frenchman was also given a sensational control of the club’s sporting operations, which means that he could influence the club’s transfer policies.
According to a report via Goal, Pochentino dismissed the reports suggesting Mbappe pushed for his sacking, insisting that the buck stopped with President Nasser Al-Khellaifi.
Mbappe is one of the best players in world football today and I think that PSG, having all the resources to do it, have convinced him to stay. But I don’t think he is the one who designed the new project either [that saw me leave].
Those who rule, in this case, the president, are those who would have thought that the most convenient thing was a new project in the club.
The Argentine manager has since been replaced by Christophe Galtier.
