Former Real Madrid star, Isco terminates Sevilla contract after four-month spell

Sevilla have reportedly terminated the contract of midfielder, Isco on mutual agreement the La Liga side have confirmed on Thursday, December 22.

The former Real Madrid star joined the Spanish side four months ago following the completion of his contract with the current European Champion in the summer, but he has already decided to call it quits at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

This was contained a statement on the club’s official website, and it read:

”Sevilla FC and Isco Alarcon have agreed to terminate the contract that united both parties since the player from Malaga joined the Nervionense club last summer after finishing his spell at Real Madrid.

The club wants to wish Isco all the luck in the world in his new professional challenges.”

The 30-year-old had a positive start to his Sevilla career and was a key feature to the starting line-ups fielded by previous coach Julen Lopetegui – who’s now at Wolves.

However, since Jorge Sampaoli’s arrival in October, the playmaker has hardly played. In total, he made just 19 appearances in all competitions for the Spanish side and managed to score just one goal – which came against Copenhagen.

Compared to his 53 goals in 353 appearances at Real Madrid, it turned out to be a poor return for a player that had so much promise upon joining the club.

The midfielder left Madrid on a free transfer after running the down the remaining months on his long-term deal at the Bernabeu.

During his time with Los Blancos, Isco won five Champions League titles, three LaLiga titles and four Club World Cups.
