“He was against us and destroyed the game”: Arteta, Ramsdale blame referee, Paul Tierney for Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat at Tottenham

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale have both blamed referee, Paul Tierney for their Thursday’s Premier League defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Newspremises reports.

Arteta accused referee, Paul Tierney of “destroying our beautiful game” after they were thrashed 3-0 at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tierney awarded a controversial penalty against the Gunners, which Harry Kane converted to open the scoring.

He then sent off Rob Holding after brandishing two quick yellow cards.

The Gunners went on to concede two more goals, as their Champions League dream hangs in the balance.

Speaking after the game, Arteta said: “I want the referees to come in front of the camera and explain his decisions. It’s a shame because such a beautiful game was destroyed today.

“I am not unhappy with my players. I am proud of my players. The decision was made. We can’t change it. The referee has to make a decision in football.”

Also speaking after the match goalkeeper, Ramsdale accused the referee of being against them in the Gunner’s 3-0 loss to Spurs.

“We came here for three points; personally, decisions went against us tonight,” Ramsdale told Arsenal Media at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“…On first glance, I feel like the big decisions went against us and then it’s an uphill battle from there,” he added.

Arsenal saw their chances of qualifying for the Champions League come under threat on Thursday night after the humbling defeat.

The Gunners were unhappy over a penalty decision given against them and Rob Holding being shown two yellow cards in the first half.

Harry Kane scored twice – one from the spot – and Son added the third at the start of the second period to put the game beyond the Gunners.
