I want to win Africa’s best player award – Victor Osimhen

After his impressive performance for Napoli this season, Victor Osihmen has finally revealed that his objective in his football career is to win the African Footballer of the Year award, Newspremises reports.

With how things are going in the Italian Serie A this season, Osimhen is most likely to end up as the highest goal scorer which means he would become the first Nigerian to achieve that success.

Clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea have been identified as the three EPL sides who have signified interest to have the Nigerian forward.

According to the latest report on Complete Sports, Osimhen is looking to dethrone Sadio Mane who is the current holder of the prestigious African award.

Osimhen’s statement about landing award

“I am not going to lie. It would be my dream to be African Footballer of the Year. I was at the ceremony in 2015, when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang won the award. As an African you dream of this prize and maybe I can win.”

The last Nigerian player who won the African Footballer of the year award was Kanu Nwankwo in 1999.
