After the Magpies gave up a goal in the 98th minute, a member of the Newcastle United technical bench seemed to throw something at the supporters of Liverpool, Newspremises reports.
On Wednesday night, there were a ton of emotions present during the Newcastle-Liverpool game, and near the end, chaos threatened to break out.
With his last-gasp winner that enabled Liverpool to rally from a goal down to capture all three points at Anfield, youngster Fabio Carvalho unintentionally infuriated the opposition.
There was a small amount of controversy, especially near the finish when Newcastle supporters thought the game should have stopped a few minutes sooner but the referee continued it till the 98th minute.
The minutes, however, will seem entirely justifiable to Liverpool supporters because at some point, Newcastle players engaged in time-wasting, which forced the referee to extend the game.
The source of the irritation appeared to be a Newcastle technical bench player who took matters into his own hands to express his displeasure.
After that, there was a brief brawl between the technical benches of the two teams, but it quickly died down.
The FA has since launched inquiries into the event, according to BBC Football.
