Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale has opened up on attempts by a Tottenham Hotspur fan to kick him, Newspremises reports.
The unfortunate incident happened shortly after the full-time whistle of the north London derby on Sunday evening, January 15.
Hugo Lloris’ own goal and Martin Odegaard’s incredible long-range strike gave the visitors a crucial victory as the Gunners won the game 2-0.
Ramsdale’s story did not have a happy conclusion, however, as a Tottenham fan reportedly attempted to kick the Arsenal shot-stopper at full-time, according to Metro UK.
How Ramsdale was attacked
The Mirror claims that Richarlison got into a fight with Ramsdale as he turned to kiss the Arsenal badge in front of Tottenham fans.
And when the Arsenal goalkeeper moved toward the billboards to gather his belongings, which included a water bottle, a Tottenham supporter descended and looked to kick out at the England international.
Mikel Arteta was obliged to step in to stop the mayhem after the incident, which involved both sets of players and staff.
Speaking in his post-game interview, Ramsdale revealed that before things went wrong, he had engaged in some lighthearted banter with the home crowd.
“The Spurs fans were giving me some stick in the second half so I was giving them some back,” Ramsdale conceded.
“Then a fan tried to jump over and give me a little punch in the back. That’s what happened and it’s a shame because it is just a game of football at the end of the day,” he added.
