Jose Mourinho names one player better than Messi and Ronaldo in settling football’s GOAT debate

Jose Mourinho, known for his coaching expertise in football, has recently named Ronaldo Nazario as the greatest footballer in history, placing him above Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Popularly known as R9, Ronaldo emerged onto the football scene before the era dominated by Cristiano and Messi, capturing the admiration of football fans worldwide due to his exceptional abilities and accomplishments on the field.

As reported by the Daily Mirror, Mourinho, who had the opportunity to collaborate with Ronaldo during their time at Barcelona, expressed his firm belief that the Brazilian forward stands as the pinnacle of football greatness.

“Ronaldo, El Fenomeno. Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi have had longer careers, they have remained at the top every day for 15 years.

“However, if we are talking strictly about talent and skill, nobody surpasses Ronaldo. When he was at Barcelona with Bobby Robson, I realised that he was the best player I’d ever seen take to the field,” the veteran coach said.

Mourinho acknowledged the enduring excellence of Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, emphasizing their remarkable 15-year sustained peak performance at the top level.

He however, stressed that in terms of raw talent and skill, Ronaldo Nazario remains unparalleled.

Mourinho reflected on his time at Barcelona under Bobby Robson, recognizing Ronaldo as the most exceptional player he had ever witnessed in action.

Ronaldo’s illustrious career, spanning across clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSV Eindhoven, and Inter Milan, was marked by extraordinary achievements, including two FIFA World Cup triumphs and two Ballon d’Or accolades.
