Man United player ratings vs AC Milan: Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire good

Dean Henderson

Made an awkward save from Saelemaekers and was called upon to make a more convincing stop in the second half. Big save from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. 8

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Offered no attacking intensity and was often on the back foot in the first-half. Solid amid Milan’s efforts to equalise. 7

Victor Lindelof

Continued his excellent form and read the game immaculately before and after his compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic emerged. 8

Harry Maguire

Defended well again next to Lindelof and was a threat at United’s attacking set-pieces. Continued his habit of performing against the elite. 8

Luke Shaw

United’s best attacker in the first-half. At one point, Shaw was further forward than any teammate and the burden on him was eased by Paul Pogba. 8

Scott McTominay

Offered steel in midfield but, for an impressive goal-getter, never looked like getting a goal when United needed one. Changed his game and was much more effective with Pogba on. 7

Fred

United’s shabby shooter had their only shot on target in the first-half. Might have been hooked for Pogba had Marcus Rashford not been injured. Improved with Pogba on and teed him up for the goal. 6

Mason Greenwood

Started at centre forward and was bright at times but more often isolated until United enhanced their attack with Pogba. 6

Bruno Fernandes

So bad in the first-half he turned attack into defence and was bailed out by Lindelof. Much more at ease when sharing the pitch with Pogba. 6

Daniel James

Started brightly when he showed Theo Hernandez a clean pair of heels but then regressed. Consistently woeful decision-making. 5

Marcus Rashford

Rushing Rashford back backfired. Only lasted a half before he had to come off. Had no impact whatsoever in his 45 minutes. 3

Subs

Paul Pogba

Was needed from the start but his interval arrival was worth the wait. His superb strike lifted United. 8

Manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Inhibited United again with his midfield selection but was decisive in choosing Pogba to replace Rashford and it paid off. 7.
