Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has successfully surpassed last season’s Golden Boot tally after scoring a hat-trick against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Norwegian scored his 23rd, 24th and 25th goal of the season to surpass the record set by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Tottenham’s Heung-min Son of 23 goals last season.
Haaland has also passed the tally of the last four seasons where the top scorers finished with no more than 24 goals.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker’s first goal came in the first half as he converted a routine cross from Kevin De Bruyne. He then scored from the penalty spot, after Ilkay Gundogan had been fouled by Ruben Neves at the beginning of the second half.
His third for the day came after Riyad Marhez capitalized from a Jose Sa mistake before unselfishly laying it out to the Norwegian for a simple tap-in.

Fourth hat trick in the Premier League for Haaland. He’s now made 19 appearances to achieve this point. Ruud Van Nistelrooy previously held the record, and it took him 65 games to do so.
His subsequent milestone will be to surpass Mohamed Salah’s 2017–2018 season record of 32 goals.
