Manchester United fans would rather keep Dean Henderson as the club’s long-term No.1 goalkeeper and allow David de Gea to leave this summer.
United are facing a dilemma over their goalkeeping department at the end of a season that saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer use both Henderson and De Gea on a regular basis.
It is widely believed that United cannot keep both men happy for another campaign, with rumours that De Gea could be the fall guy.
And in response to a poll run by MEN Sport on Twitter, United fans have voted on which one of De Gea and Henderson to keep at the club and which to let go — if it came down to a straight decision.
The question asked was “If you could only keep one this summer, who are you keeping?”.
Henderson polled 62 per cent of the vote, with a large chunk of the 6.595 votes still wanting Solskjaer to keep faith in De Gea, who got 38 per cent.
Solskjaer has insisted in recent months that he has ‘two Numbers Ones’ in goal, but whether that remains sustainable as a policy next season remains to be seen.
Speaking last month about the rivalrybetween De Gea and Henderson, he said: “It’s probably a different scenario with the keepers than it’s normally been because they’ve shared I don’t know how many games, close to 60 and both of them are in and around the 30 mark and both have done really well.
