Meet Spanish born Nigerian teen, Vicky Lopez who scored 60 goals in 17 Games, could play for Super Falcons

Barcelona forward, Vicky Lopez, a teenage sensation from Nigeria who was born in Spain, has drawn attention due to her remarkable goal-scoring record, Newspremises reports.

During the 2020–21 Youth League season, the 16-year-old reportedly scored 60 goals in 17 games for Real Madrid CFF, leading to a significant transfer to Barcelona.

OJB Sport reports that despite having played for Spain at a young age, the young woman is not ruling out playing for Nigeria in the future because of her passion for the nation.

After the 2020–21 season, Vicky Lopez transferred to Barcelona, and in an interview with her old brand manager, the gifted youngster gushed over Nigerian forward Asistat Oshoala, a senior teammate at the Bluagrana.

“Vicky loves Nigeria, she used to tell us back then. It’s funny because then, she told us meeting Asisat would be a dream come true for her. But now they are teammates,” Joshua King Dada said as quoted by OBJ Sport.

Lopez, whose mother is Nigerian, may still be able to play for the Super Falcons in the future, but much will depend on the Football Federation’s efforts.

“Last week she was summoned to train with Spain U17s, Nigeria is still an option but no one from the Federation has contacted us,” her dad said, according to allsoccernigeria.com.

“There might be problems for Nigeria to call her up in the future. It would make Vicky very excited if she receives a call-up to play for Nigeria, but it is very likely that in September she will be called up for the Women’s U17 EURO qualifiers,” he added.
