Messi Vs Ronaldo: Eden Hazard names only player better than him and settled GOAT debate

Belgian football sensation, Eden Hazard who earned his status as a Chelsea legend through a remarkable career has disclosed that, there was only one player better than him, Newspremises reports.

Hazard officially retired from professional football last year, following an unfortunate turn of events in his anticipated transition to Real Madrid.

His contract underwent mutual termination after a four-year stint at the Santiago Bernabeu, subsequent to his noteworthy seven-year tenure with Chelsea in the Premier League.

During his time in the Spanish capital, Hazard encountered persistent injury challenges, which, coupled with limited playing opportunities under his final La Liga manager, Carlo Ancelotti, posed considerable obstacles to his success.

This announcement marked the conclusion of a career that had seen Hazard rise to prominence at Chelsea and make a highly-anticipated move to Real Madrid, only to grapple with unanticipated setbacks.

Despite the challenges, Hazard’s contributions to the sport and his illustrious career remain a testament to his skill and dedication.

Hazard names Messi as better player

Hazard has rarely spoken to the media since hanging his boots last year but recently spoke to L’Equipe in an interview where he was asked which player he believes is better than him.

“Individually, Messi is perhaps the only one. I enjoyed seeing the one in Barcelona, less towards the end, but he is the greatest player in history. Unplayable, impossible to take the ball from him, he’s just unbelievable,” he said.

“Cristiano is a bigger player than me but, in terms of pure football, honestly, I don’t think so,” he added.

Per Goal, Hazard had the chance to play with Messi but declined before retiring. Inter Miami were one of the six clubs that presented the former Chelsea star with offers, but he rejected all.

Messi is enjoying the final days of his career, winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup and consequently winning the Ballon d’Or and two Best FIFA Awards.
