Mount reveals why he cried after winning the UEFA Champions League

Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount has revealed the reason he shed tears after winning the UEFA Champions League with the London club on Saturday night. The English midfielder provided the killer pass that assisted Kai Havertz’s winning goal against Manchester City in the Estadio Dragao stadium in Portugal.

Mount, who is a graduate of the Chelsea Football Academy, disclosed that he thought that his team deserve to be champions of Europe and claimed that they are currently the best team in the world. He told, ‘At this moment in time, we’re the best team in the world and you can’t take that away from us!’

The English midfielder was seen shedding tears during the victory lap and has now revealed to the official Chelsea website that he cried because he was happy to see his father, who had made a lot of sacrifice for him to make it in the top flight, celebrating in the stands.

Mount was one of three Academy graduates to feature in the final and he paid tribute to the pathway that has helped him flourish, as well as the support of his family over so many years.

‘My dad has just come down from the stands and I burst into tears seeing him. It’s a long journey to get to this moment here so to my family I thank them for everything, they’ve given me everything and now these are the rewards,'” he said.

The English midfielder will hope to build on this huge success achieved at a young age and push to establish himself as one of the best players in the history of the club.
