Napoli striker, Victor Osihmen is set to be out of action for week after returning to Naples with an injury following the international break, Newspremises reports.
The red-hot striker fired blank in Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau, with the Super Eagles losing in Abuja before travelling to Bissau to redeem themselves.
However, this came with a cost as the 23-year-old forward suffered a muscular injury to his adductor and should be out for two weeks.
Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed the striker’s injury, insisting he might miss the game against AC Milan in both Serie A and the UEFA Champions League.
“He should be out for a couple of weeks, we hope,” said De Laurentiis, as quoted by footballitalia.
The Serie A leaders will welcome the champions to the Diego Maradona Stadium on Sunday before a double-header in the UCL to follow.
“These are games where any result could happen, you can never know. Milan have some great players, they too are missing someone, and we hope it will be a balanced, entertaining match for the two sets of fans. This is what football should bring us,” added the Napoli chief.
Osimhen has been Napoli’s top star this season, scoring 21 goals in 23 league matches.
