Chelsea’s reported pursuit of Erling Haaland has been gathering a lot pace over the last few days. Some reports have gone as far as stating that Erling Haaland is more likely to join Chelsea over any other club when the summer transfer window reopens.
The Norwegian has been on the Chelsea radar since the time of Frank Lampard as Chelsea manager and even after he was sacked, the rumours of Chelsea’s interest in Haaland have not died down.
Haaland has been one of the most potent strikers in world football since his move from Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund and he has notched over 42 goals for the German outfit.
Since Thomas Tuchel took charge at Chelsea, the team has seen a huge improvement in their fortunes.
They’ve been unbeaten in a handful of games and it’s all credit to Tuchel’s renowned approach.
Now there is only one problem for Tuchel in the Chelsea squad and it’s the striking department.
Moat of the goals since Tuchel took charge has been scored by midfielders and defenders, and it’s been a problem for the blues.
Summer signings have yet to live up to the enormous expectations placed on their shoulders.
The signing of Erling Haaland would mean a huge improvement on the current crop of strikers Chelsea have at the moment. Of course Giroud is over 30 and Abraham has been……. well, Abraham. Erling will bring that needed vocal point in attack and will use his height to good measures if he joins Chelsea in the summer. Abraham will most likely leave on loan or permanently since he has refused to renew his deal at Stamford Bridge, Erling Haaland will be given the no9 Jersey.
The no9 is believed to be his preferred Jersey nimber and that’s what he wore at Salzburg.
The Chelsea heirachy will no doubt hand him the no9 shirt in the expense of the under performing Tammy Abraham.
