Referees against him: Fans cry foul after Ronaldo is denied a penalty against Al-Riyadh

Some football fans are of the opinion that the officials tend to give decisions against Cristiano Ronaldo, and those accusations escalated during Al-Nassr’s latest game, Newspremises reports.

Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr took on Al-Riyadh in the Saudi Pro League and had a brilliant chance to take an early lead in the game thanks to Ronaldo.

The Portuguese superstar fired a shot on goal, but the ball was blocked on the line by an Al-Riyadh defender.

Highlights showed that the ball appeared to have hit the defender’s hand, but despite this, no penalty was given and neither was the player shown a card.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner did get his revenge later as he scored his side’s first goal of the game, before providing an assist for the team’s second goal.

Fans were upset with the decision, perceiving there to be a bias against CR7 and his side, and took to social media to criticise the decision.

“This league is doing everything in its powers to stop Cristiano Ronaldo. How is this not a penalty?”

“Cristiano Ronaldo Al Nassr robbed again. That’s a penalty.”

“They literally didn’t give any penalty or any red card for this. The system is always against Ronaldo. It always has been against him.”
