Ronaldo auctions his Ballon d’Or as the richest man in Israel wins with €600,000 bid

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportdely auctioned one of his five Ballon d’Or awards off to benefit charity, Newspremises reports.

A duplicate of the award that the five-time winner of the most coveted individual diadem in international football donated helped raise €600,000.

Ronaldo’s Ballon d’Or was purchased at the auction by Israel’s richest man and philanthropist Idan Ofer.

Ronaldo made the gesture last Sunday at a gala the Make-A-Wish Foundation held at London’s Dorchester hotel in the United Kingdom, according to ESPN.

Ronaldo requested a “extra” replica when he won the 2013 Ballon d’Or, and it was this replica that was donated.

According to MARCA, the “actual” prize is still on display at the CR7’s private museum in Madeira.

Following his move to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nasr, Ronaldo has been vying for his sixth Ballon d’Or, which will be difficult to obtain. He last claimed the award in 2017.

On January 19, he will make his Al-Nassr debut while playing for a Saudi all-star team against Paris Saint-Germain and Lionel Messi.
