Sadio Mane scores brilliant goal as Liverpool beat Villarreal in champions league semifinal 1st leg

Liverpool are now on the verge of reaching the UEFA champions league final after beating Villarreal 2-0 in the first leg of the semi-final, Newspremises understands.

The Reds hosted Villarreal on Wednesday night at Anfield in a high-voltage encounter. Both teams could not score in the first half but, Jurgen Klopp men were able to laboured hard to get victory.

Having sent out German champions Bayern Munich out of the competition, Unai Emery and his wards traveled to England with boosted morale with the target of getting good result against the Reds.

But they met a more determined Liverpool side who started the encounter brilliantly even though they failed to score in the first 45 minutes of the match.

When did Liverpool score their goals against Villarreal?

Pervis Estupinan scored an own goal to give Liverpool the lead in the 53rd minute, and Villarreal tried all they could to restore parity after conceding, but they were unable to score.

Three minutes later, Mohamed Salah provided an assist for Sadio Mane to score the second goal for Liverpool and the Reds went on to win 2-0.

As things stand now, Liverpool must avoid losing 3-0 in the return leg for them to reach the final of the Champions League.
