Secondary School pupil drowns in Ilorin

An unidentified student of Junior Secondary School, Gbagba, i Ilorin, Kwara State capital has been drowned in a river, Newspremises reports

The boy was drowned in a river at Gbagba community, Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The deceased was said to have come alongside his friends to swim at the river.

However, after he was drowned his friends reportedly took to their heels.

“We saw no fewer than 6 of the Gbagba Secondary School students at the river, suddenly we held loud crying, upon rushing down, we discovered that one of the Students had drowned, leading to his friends taking to their hills.

“Before we could rescue him, he already died and we saw signs on his head which is likely as a result of him hitting his head on the rock,” the local online newspaper quoted an eyewitness identified as Mutiu as saying.

As of the time of filing this report, the name of the deceased could not be independently verified.
