Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi builds modern day dressing room for local team that produced him

Super Eagles forward, Taiwo Awoniyi has allegedly won the heart of many supporters following the completion of a modern-day dressing room at the Sheikh Abdulkadir College in Adewole, Ilorin, in the Kwara State.

It is on the college pitch that Awoniyi’s local team in Ilorin trains on a daily basis, and it was there the former Liverpool striker was discovered before moving to Olofinjana Academy.


Many players who started with Awoniyi are still training on the pitch, with the team now known as Unicorn Academy after they became affiliated with the Kwara State Football Association.

According to an exclusive interview Sports Brief conducted with Awoniyi, he explained there were many things he was still planning to improve things for his local teamto do at the place his local team uses for training.

The Nottingham Forest star explained he wanted to improve the appearance and facilities at the college pitch to help attract other young players.

“Everyone knows that it was on that pitch that I started my football career… I am also planning to change the pitch to artificial grass from the sandy ground it is so that it can be perfect for young players to show their talents.”
