Thomas Tuchel Provides Edouard Mendy Ribs’ Injury Update

Mendy clashed his ribs to the woodwork while trying to save Traore’s opening goal as Chelsea lost 2-1 on final EPL 2020/2021 day.

The Blues are likely not to have their favorite keeper, Edouard Mendy in the goalpost when they face Manchester City for the UEFA Champions League final.

Mendy has been the pick for important games and after clashing with the goal post today, could see Kepa handed an important role on the night of 29th May.

Thomas Tuchel is hopeful the injury isn’t as bad as feared as he confirms a scan will be conducted in order to ascertain the nature and severity of Mendy’s injury.

Speaking after the game, Tuchel said; “Edouard, he fell on the frame. He has big pain in his ribs, we need to wait when we get home to do some images. We will see if it is possible.

“We will do everything so he is in between the posts on Saturday.”

Mendy’s recovery would come as a major boost for Chelsea who will be hoping for the Champions League as their only trophy of the season.

It was indeed a rough finish for Blues who almost slipped off the top 4 zone after losing 2-1 to Villa.
