Many Chelsea fans must have noticed something quite unusual amid the Club’s Champions League final celebrations and now the reasoning has been revealed, Newspremises reports.
The likes of Olivier Giroud, Antonio Rudiger and Kurt Zouma all seemed to make a beeline for the footwear of head coach Thomas Tuchel following our 1-0 win over Manchester City in Porto on Saturday, with the boss also taking his trainer off during the celebrations and allowing it to be dowsed in champagne.
It may have seemed a little strange to onlookers, but Tuchel has revealed why his shoes were so heavily involved in our post-match celebrations.
‘I had these exact trainers in Paris and I made a promise that we will wear these shoes when we reach the Champions League final,’ Tuchel said.
They were a present from the president at PSG and I promised my staff I would wear them in the final.
‘I did not wear them that day, and we lost [to Bayern Munich]. I made sure I wore them this year and they worked!’, the Blues manager added.
