Video: Cristiano Ronaldo gives Jadon Sancho a standing ovation after classic goal against Liverpool

Manchester United were handed their first Premier League win of the season by arch-rivals, Liverpool on Monday evening, Newspremises understands.

A well composed goal scored by Jadon Sancho and a second half strike by Marcus Rashford ensured the Red Devils grab their three points after suffering defeats in their opening two games.

But the pick of the goals was Sancho’s Messi-esque goal which drew first blood for the Red Devils and set the tone for the United victory.

His goal sent fans at Old Trafford into raptures but Sancho’s strike did not only appeal to the fanbase as the entire United bench including superstar Cristiano Ronaldo gave the 22-year-old forward a standing ovation.

In a video posted on Twitter, sighted by Newspremises, Ronaldo got the edge of the seat during the build-up as the Portugal captain sensed a goal.

As Elanga teed off Sancho, Ronaldo stood on his feet to celebrate the goal but had to delay his celebration a few seconds as Sancho checked back leaving the on-rushing Milner for dead before placing the ball at the back of the net with an ice-cold finish.

Immediately, Sancho’s strike nestled at the bottom corner of the goal, and Ronaldo could not help but applaud the efforts of the former Borussia Dortmund player.

Ronaldo will later join the fray in the dying embers of the game as United saw out a late resurgence from Liverpool.
