Erik ten Hag’s team has been deserving of their lead as Manchester United leads Liverpool by one goal at the halftime against the Reds.
Prior to the game, Liverpool was a strong favorite, but they finished second best for the majority of the first half as United totally dominated all contests.
Anthony Elanga missed a great chance to give United the lead in the first half as he attempted to score, but his effort hit the upright. Later, Jadon Sancho worked his magic to give his team a deserving lead.
The home team was incensed with tonight’s referee, Michael Oliver, as they attempted to claw their way back into the game in the final 10 minutes but never truly posed a threat to the United goal.
When the halftime whistle blew, as can be seen above, United players flocked around Oliver, with Bruno Fernandes among those to be notably irate.
The incidents happened after Fernandes came close to scoring a hilarious own goal after Diogo Dalot was called for a foul on Luis Diaz.
In order to earn their first victory of the year, United will look for much of the same in the second half.
