World Cup 2022: Evra revels in Suarez heartache on social media after Uruguay World Cup elimination

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra’s social media activity in the aftermath of Luis Suarez’s emotional World Cup exit with Uruguay has enraged fans.

Suarez sobbed uncontrollably as Uruguay was eliminated despite defeating Ghana 2-0 in their final Group H game.

However, the South American giants were unable to advance to the knockout stage because they scored fewer goals in their three games at the Mundial.

Uruguay’s journey to the 2022 FIFA World Cup came to an end after South Korea defeated Portugal 2-1 in the other group game.

Suarez, who was substituted for Edinson Cavani in the second half, sobbed uncontrollably on the bench as the final whistle confirmed his country’s exit from what will almost certainly be his final World Cup as a player.

Suarez’s pain causes Evra to react

As the former Barcelona star’s tearful image went viral, Evra made his feelings known by ‘liking’ football brand 443’s post highlighting Suarez’s anguish.

Suarez vs. Evra feud

During their time in the Premier League, former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra and Liverpool legend Luis Suarez clashed.

During the 2011/12 season, the Uruguayan was accused of using racist language toward the Frenchman during a massive match between Manchester United and Liverpool at Anfield.

The following season, in another tense battle in the north west, a furious Suarez refused to shake Evra’s hand before kick-off at Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side went on to win the game 2-1, and after the final whistle, Evra celebrated directly in front of Suarez in what became an iconic scene. When the racism allegations first surfaced, Liverpool players were chastised for wearing T-shirts in support of the Uruguayan.
