World Cup 2022: Southampton gush over the performance of Ghana defender, Mohammed Salisu during their 3-2 win over South Korea

Southampton have reacted to Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu’s performance after he scored his first World Cup goal as the Black Stars overcame South Korea.

The Southampton center-back scored the opening goal as the West African nation won 3-2 at the Education City stadium in Al Rayyan.

The Black Stars finished second in Group H thanks to a brace from Mohammed Kudus and a double from South Korean Cho Gue-sung.

Southampton celebrated their centre-back, who became the first Ghanaian defender to score at the World Cup, on social media following the game.

“What a performance. Sensational, Sali,” wrote the Saints on Twitter.

Salisu was making his fourth appearance for Ghana, having made his debut in a friendly against Brazil in September.

On Friday, the Black Stars will meet two-time world champions Uruguay.
