The death of Mukaila Adedigba and Wasiu Adegbenro has been reported by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners’ Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), who call it heartbreaking for the group.
This was mentioned in a statement released on Monday in Lagos by Bolaji Amusan, National President of TAMPAN.
According to Vanguard, “Amusan expressed his condolences to the surviving family members of his deceased coworkers and prayed that God would give them the strength to endure the loss.”
“The terrible news of the untimely deaths of well-known Nollywood actors Saint Obi, Murphy Afolabi, Mukaila Adedigba, and Wasiu Adegbenro was received in Tampa with shock and utter dismay.”
Vanguard reported that, “At a time when TAMPAN is stepping up efforts to improve member welfare and the standard of living for Nigerian artists, the news came as a great shock to us.”
He said, “We pray that God gives them all eternal rest.”
According to Amusan, “the rate of premature deaths among its members and others in the creative business has risen alarmingly.”
“He encouraged TAMPAN members and all Nigerian artists to take good care of their health.”
“These tragic events call for a second urgent appeal to all of our association’s members and Nigerian artists in general to take good care of their health.” Source stated.
“It’s crucial right now to urge everyone working in Nigeria’s creative industry to produce new work.”
“Saint Obi went away at the age of 57 following a protracted illness, according to Vanguard, The 49-year-old Murphy Afolabi reportedly passed away on Sunday as a result of complications from a restroom mishap.”
Additionally, “sound recordist Wasiu Adegbenro, also known as “Techno,” passed away on May 14 and Mukaila Adedigba passed away on May 13.” Source added
